Get in touch

Corrections are the most useful message this site receives. Everything else is welcome too.

A value looks wrong The fastest fix on the site. Bring the entry, the field and a source, and it gets checked against the method rather than argued about.
A plant is missing Tell us which one. Requests do not jump the queue automatically, but they do tell us where the gaps people actually feel are.
Advertising or partnerships Display advertising is how the site is funded. Sponsored entries and paid placement in lists are not available, at any price.

Send a message

One form, routed by the topic you pick. Nothing here is stored beyond what is needed to answer you.

Read once by a person, not by an autoresponder. Corrections with a source attached are handled first.

What happens to your message

No autoresponder, no ticket number, and no reply that thanks you for your feedback without addressing it. Messages are read by a person, in the order they change something.

01
Corrections with a source

Checked against the source hierarchy on the sources page. If it holds, the field changes and the entry's review date changes with it. If it does not hold, you get the reason and the source we relied on, which is more useful than silence.

02
Missing plants and questions

Logged against the publishing queue. A plant that several people ask for moves up, because that is real evidence of a gap. You will not get a promised date, because a date we cannot keep is worse than no date.

03
Commercial enquiries

Answered honestly and quickly, including the answers people do not want. Sponsored entries, paid placement inside a list, and link insertions into existing entries are not products here.

What we do with what you send

The form collects a name, an email address, an optional entry reference and your message. That is the whole set, and it exists so somebody can reply to you.

  • Messages are not added to a mailing list, and sending one does not subscribe you to anything
  • Nothing you send is sold, shared with advertisers, or used to target advertising
  • If your correction changes an entry, the change is published, but your name is not attached to it unless you ask for that
  • Full detail is in the privacy notice

Before you write

My plant is dying, can you tell me what is wrong?

Honestly, usually not from a description. Symptoms overlap: yellow leaves mean at least six different things, and the pattern on the leaf carries most of the diagnosis. Start in pests and diseases, which is organized by symptom rather than by cause.

My dog ate a plant. What do I do?

Call your vet, now, rather than waiting for an email. This site can tell you whether a plant appears on the ASPCA toxic list. It cannot tell you what will happen to a specific animal, and nobody should be making that call from a plant care page.

Can I republish an entry on my site?

Quote a line, cite the entry and link back, and that is fine without asking. Whole entries, no. Bulk scraping to rebuild the database elsewhere with the sourcing stripped out is exactly the behavior this site exists to counter.

Do you take guest posts?

No. Entries are compiled to a fixed method against a fixed source hierarchy, which is not something a guest submission can be checked against economically. This is also a polite no to the several hundred outreach emails that ask.
